(Quebec) The Minister of Transport, Geneviève Guilbault, has lost her credibility in ensuring road safety, according to the Quebec Liberal Party.
The opposition thus accused the minister of negligence in the issue of drunk driving.
The Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) is in favor of the idea of imposing administrative sanctions on drivers whose blood alcohol level is between 0.05 and 0.08, according to documents obtained by Duty.
Geneviève Guilbault was opposed to the addition of this measure in a bill that she piloted and she recently admitted not having read this opinion.
Liberal MP Monsef Derraji criticizes her for not taking into account the opinions of experts and judges that she cannot ensure the road safety of Quebecers, but he does not go so far as to ask for her resignation.
According to him, this constitutes the “CAQ scandal of drunk driving”.
