Fake bank advisor scam: elderly people targeted

Scams involving fake bank advisors are exploding with well-established techniques and are claiming more and more victims.

This fraud is claiming more and more victims. The bank number appears on the phone, but on the other end it’s a scammer. Here is the phone scam with the fake bank advisor. Marie-Claire, 75, was a victim last year. “I’m still scarred, but it’s true that it’s hard to take”she explains. That day, the retiree received a call from a man who introduced himself as her banking advisor. He warns her of fraud on her credit card and tries to reassure her.

Over three weeks, the scammer makes 58 calls to his victim. An accomplice poses as a bank courier. He comes to the home to collect the credit card to withdraw cash. More than 3,000 euros in total. Today, the former nurse filed a complaint and says she is disgusted.
