(Munich) The young Canadian from Bayern Munich Alphonso Davies suffers from a “mild inflammation of the heart muscle” (myocarditis) probably following his COVID-19, and should be out for several weeks, his coach Julian Nagelsmann revealed on Friday.

The 21-year-old left-back’s problem will be “between mild and boring”, said Nagelsmann, when asked about the severity of this inflammation.
Doctors have no scientific certainty about the origin of this pathology in Davies, “but the probability is great that it comes from his COVID-19”, admitted Nagelsmann.
“He will be absent for an indefinite period. It’s not that dramatic, but he has to heal, and it’s going to take some time,” added the manager.
Six other players affected by COVID-19 will return to the group on Saturday for the trip to Cologne, but, said Nagelsmann, only captain Manuel Neuer and Corentin Tolisso are suitable for entry.
The others, Leroy Sané, Dayot Upamecano, Omar Richards and Tanguy Nianzou “are recovering, but not yet recovered enough to start the match”, according to the coach.
Of the nine players who tested positive for coronavirus last week, only Lucas Hernandez is yet to recover. Kingsley Coman is fully recovered, but will be out due to the after-effects of a muscle injury.
Nagelsmann recalled for this match the two young players who entered the game last week against Mönchengladbach (2-1 defeat), Paul Wanner (16) and Lukas Copado (18). Wanner became the youngest player in Bayern Bundesliga history on this occasion, at the age of 16 years and 15 days.
