The sponsor of the execution in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône) or even Mohamed Amra, the most wanted escapee in France… so many figures of organized crime who organize from their cells and sometimes directly, thanks to a telephone, criminal actions. In 2023, 53,000 phones were seized in prison. According to an inmate, telephones are very useful in daily life in a prison: “It might be nice to have a phone if you have important business to take care of outside.”
However, phones are prohibited so how can they be brought in? A resident of the La Santé prison in Paris, who lives opposite, regularly attends deliveries and explains: “We see a lot of exchanges of cell phones and other things.” In front of building doors, video surveillance cameras capture individuals preparing packages. Then, these packages are thrown over the prison walls. The inmates just have to collect their package. One way among many to recover equipment.
