Benjamin Netanyahu openly criticized Emmanuel Macron on Saturday October 5, after the French president called for the suspension of arms deliveries to Israel. “A shame,” according to the Israeli Prime Minister.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s statement addressed to President Emmanuel Macron was scathing on Saturday October 5: “As Israel confronts barbaric forces led by Iran, all civilized countries should stand with Israel. And now President Macron and other Western leaders are calling for an arms embargo against Israel, shame on them.”

Relations between the two leaders have never appeared so deteriorated.

At the origin of this anger from Benjamin Netanyahu, an interview in which the French president calls for stopping delivering weapons to Israel, those used in Gaza. On Saturday, late in the afternoon, Emmanuel Macron wanted to clarify his thoughts by first assuring that France stood alongside Israel. “When Iran launched strikes, France was mobilized, nevertheless, it is also true that we are trying to be consistent. If we call for a ceasefire, the consistency is not to provide the weapons of war”he explained.

Several Arab countries welcomed Emmanuel Macron’s statements, notably Qatar which is a key mediator in the conflict in Gaza.
