300 people take part in a march in support of Gisèle Pelicot in Mazan

300 people are leaving the “white solidarity march” in support of Gisèle Pelicot in Mazan (Vaucluse), Saturday October 5, reports France Bleu Vaucluse, more than a month after the start of Dominique Pelicot’s trial. The septuagenarian is on trial before the Vaucluse criminal court for having drugged, raped and had his ex-wife, Gisèle Pelicot, raped by dozens of men for ten years.

The participants in this march are holding white roses in their hands, noted France Bleu Vaucluse. Many residents of Mazan, elected officials and mayors of neighboring towns are present. This white march is organized at the initiative of a group of women victims of violence and the Vaucluse association Isofaculté, specializing in personal reconstruction through the mediation of horses.

This walk aims to “show that beyond violence, there can be humanity”, Chloé Sarra, women’s project manager at Isofaculté, explained this week on France Bleu Vaucluse. The procession follows this Saturday afternoon the historic route of the Càrri festival, “a traditional Mazanese event dedicated to solidarity”. A reading of poems and testimonies from participants are planned.

Dominique Pelicot has been on trial with 50 defendants since September 2 before the Vaucluse criminal court. The trial runs until December 20.
