Who is Tucker Carlson, the star journalist who is causing controversy in the United States?

Tucker Carlson is a star journalist in the United States. A fervent defender of Donald Trump, he is followed by 14 million people on X. Heir to an immense family fortune, he could have never worked. However, he launched into journalism, on CNN in the early 2000s, then on Fox News, which offered him an hour of daily air time from 2016. Climate skeptic, anti-feminist and anti-immigration, Tucker Carlson has carte blanche to spread his most excessive ideas.

According to him, the theory of the great replacement is the “electoral strategy” of the Democrats. These positions earned him the support of the entire American extreme right, up to the former leader of the KKK, David Duke. Fox News, however, ended up sanctioning him, after the defeat of Donald Trump in 2020. After the reporter pointed out the electronic votes, the channel had to pay 787 million to the voting machine manufacturer Dominion and fired Tucker Carlson.

The journalist then launched his own interview show, to, he says, counter the traditional media. In February 2024, he was the first Western journalist to obtain an interview with Vladimir Putin since the start of the invasion in Ukraine. Since then, his channel has become a refuge for crazy theories.
