We admit, after the departure of Mr. Pierre Fitzgibbon, we had a bit of a cold shower. He who quickly understood our intentions and significantly advanced a social economy project — the Carrefour St-Pierre — which has tremendous meaning for community groups, marginalized people, the ecological transition, the protection of real estate cultural heritage , the Gay Village and the relaunch of the Latin Quarter. Many people were surprised that he took the time to come visit us: It didn’t make the headlines, let’s face it! And we thank him for that. The day after his resignation, however, our phone rang. Many have asked us: “How are you taking this departure? » “Phew! Let’s trust and wait to see who follows” was our first reaction.
The appointment by the Prime Minister of Christine Fréchette as minister responsible for the Montreal region and the metropolis was very good news, combined with her responsibilities in terms of Economic Development and Energy. As Minister Fréchette is recognized for her efficiency, there is no doubt that she will be able to bring together the actors of change so that the metropolis – the engine of economic development in Quebec – realizes the ambitious projects it is carrying out on its territory.
We believe that we must come together to act in the common interest, in a long-term vision that requires courage and tenacity, and see in the arrival of this superminister the hope that the structuring projects for Montreal will do very well. big steps, with openness, integrity and transparency: qualities that we and many others recognize in him. His participation in the show Everyone is talking about it demonstrated this eloquently. We welcome his appointment by Mr. François Legault and assure Mr.me Christine Fréchette the humble collaboration and contribution of the St-Pierre Center to the social, economic and community development of Montreal.
