Each time leaders hurl anathemas at each other, stream after stream, wave upon wave, death extends its reign. Peace recedes silently and breathlessly before the hurricane of hatred. When Israel and Tehran exchange threats, when Putin assassinates and devastates Ukraine, when the generals’ war in Sudan sinks into the abyss, each time, tens of thousands of deaths authenticate the bellicose speeches. In the current state of our desires for human unity and identity of heart, the impotence of the UN and the contempt for our international laws are dizzying. Powerless on the edge of the abyss, we see the war destroying what is most fragile and most precious to us, and as if that were not enough, it brazenly progresses at the very time of the gigantic climatic destruction of life.
