“I welcome the Prime Minister’s announcement”, “this is the first time that I have heard him take such a position, saying that he was in favor of the initial project”greets Agnès Firmin-Le Bodo, Horizons MP for Seine-Maritime, former Minister of Health who developed the end-of-life bill, on franceinfo, Friday October 4. The Prime Minister said “personally agree” with the initial version of the text, during an interview on France 2, Thursday evening. “Now, I am waiting for a next intervention where we will have more details on when we will resume this work”continues the Norman elected official.

Michel Barnier explained on Thursday that he was “favorable to return to work where it was interrupted”. This is what Olivier Falorni, centrist deputy for Charente-Maritime, general rapporteur of this end-of-life bill, asked when he tabled the text again at the end of September. “We stopped at the time of discussions on long-term, medium-term and short-term subjects”recalls Agnès Firmin-Le Bodo. “We had voted on the first part on the evolution of palliative care and we were on the part of assisted dying”continues the former minister.

Agnès Firmin-Le Bodo now wishes “take action and debate” and “find a way forward so that the text can be voted on”. “There is no doubt that we will be able to find the path that will allow us to move forward”she says. “I am counting on Geneviève Darrieussecq to help us move forward on the subject. She was a parliamentarian, she was a deputy, when we started the discussions. She actively participated in the debates. She knows the text well”underlines MP Horizons.
