Yan Lecompte, who had already been accused of sexual crimes against a minor, was arrested again on Wednesday. The suspect from Salaberry-de-Valleyfield would have caused six additional victims.
Yan Lecompte appeared on Wednesday at the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse, the Sûreté du Québec confirmed in a press release the same day. He faces, among other charges, charges of sexual assault, luring, production of child pornography, exhibitionism, voyeurism and criminal harassment.
“The events took place between 2010 and 2023 and the investigation tends to demonstrate that the suspect could have caused other victims,” indicated the SQ.
The 48-year-old man had already been arrested last April for crimes of a sexual nature committed against a minor. The charges filed in court Wednesday reveal the identities of six new victims, also minors.
Yan Lecompte was a cheerleading athlete attending the CampiAgile gymnastics club in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, which had attracted attention in the region because of the number of young girls registered there. The club, in shock after the first arrest in April, confirmed to The Press that Mr. Lecompte was not a coach, but that he sat on the board of directors like several other athletes or parents, who meet once every three months.
According to the accusations, the suspect acted in Montreal, Maricourt, Beauharnois and Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.
