(Atlanta) Kirk Cousins threw for 509 yards and four touchdowns, the last on a 45-yard play by KhaDarel Hodge in overtime, and the Atlanta Falcons defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 36-20 on Thursday.
At the end of a fourth quarter which was the scene of a missed field goal attempt, a fumble and an interception, Cousins and the Falcons (3-2) regained the ball at their 20 yard line with 74 seconds left, trailing 30-27.
Cousins completed five passes to put his team at the Buccaneers 29-yard line, then managed to throw the ball down with just one second remaining.
Younghoe Koo made a 52-yard field goal to force overtime, a week after making a 58-yard field goal with two seconds on the clock to snatch victory from the New Orleans Saints.
The Falcons won the toss in overtime and ensured that Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers (3-2) did not touch the ball again. Cousin connected with Drake London twice, then found Hodge in the middle of the field. The latter ran into the end zone without being touched to end the game.
Darnell Mooney scored two passing touchdowns in the win, while London had one.
In the defeat, Mayfield completed 19 of his 24 passes for 180 yards and three touchdowns. Mike Evans, twice, and Sterling Shepard reached the end zone after catching a pass.
