The actress Judith Godrèche, who became spearhead of the #MeToo movement in France, denied on Wednesday October 2, 2024 to AFP that she was a candidate for the presidency of the National Center for Cinema and Animated Images (CNC) as well as the asserts The Point. Contacted by AFP, the CNC did not comment. The Ministry of Culture, the supervisory authority responsible for appointing the next leader of the CNC, did not immediately follow up.
In recent months, Judith Godrèche has sparked a new storm in French cinema by filing a complaint for rape against the filmmakers Benoît Jacquot and Jacques Doillon with whom she had filmed when she was a minor. His activism led to the creation of a parliamentary commission of inquiry into sexual violence in cinema. Work was interrupted by the dissolution of the National Assembly in June, but the commission is expected to be revived.
The CNC, of which deputy general manager Olivier Henrard is interim president, generates 770 million euros per year and plays a crucial role in financing the 7th art as well as the audiovisual sector.
