Energy bloc: the Quebec Liberal Party asks the Auditor General to investigate

Fearing “arbitrariness”, the official opposition is calling for an investigation by the Auditor General into the allocation of energy blocks to companies by the CAQ government.

A letter was sent to Auditor General Guylaine Leclerc to this effect on Wednesday.

The liberal opposition criticizes the Ministry of Energy for being silent on the point system which allows a request to be refused or accepted.

The PLQ fears that the government will accept or refuse supply blocks at its discretion, in a current context of electricity shortage for industries that want to increase their activities or decarbonize their processes.

“The criteria are vague, the business associations say so,” declared the interim Liberal leader, Marc Tanguay, at a press briefing on Wednesday noon.

“Once you’re told no, you don’t even know why you were told no. For me, that’s arbitrary. Alert ! Auditor General of Quebec. »

The Auditor General acknowledges receipt of the parties’ requests for investigation, but she never says whether or not she will undertake an investigation.
