There were no injuries, but impacts were observed on the Israeli embassy in Sweden. After an explosion was heard in Stockholm on Tuesday October 1, around 6 p.m., in a street in the center of the capital, the police reported having carried out “findings which indicate shootings at the Israeli embassy”.

“We do not want to disclose exactly what findings were made because the investigation is ongoing”added a police spokesperson, confirming that an investigation was opened for aggravated violation of weapons legislation, endangering others and illegal threats.

This incident comes as two explosions were reported overnight near the Israeli embassy in Denmark, in the suburbs of Copenhagen, in a context of extreme tensions in the Middle East, between Israel, Iran, the Lebanese Hebzbollah and the Palestinian Hamas.

Several incidents have occurred near the Israeli embassy in Sweden since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip. In February, a grenade was found in the building, which the Israeli ambassador called an attempted attack. In May, shooting was observed outside, which led to a strengthening of security measures.

Swedish intelligence services claimed in late May that Iran was recruiting members of Swedish criminal gangs to carry out “acts of violence” against Israel’s interests and representations in Sweden – which Tehran has denied. The authorities have also recorded an increase in anti-Semitic acts in the country since the start of the war in Gaza.
