Seen from above, the village looks like areas completely flooded after a typhoon. In reality, the inhabitants of this Cambodian village have always lived in total harmony with water. The floating villages of Tonle Sap, the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia. There, no cars or motorbikes because everything is done by boat, such as going to say hello to the neighbor, ordering a drink, going to school or even praying in a place of worship.
In one of the largest floating villages in Tonlé Sap, there are almost 4,000 inhabitants. “For us, Tonlé Sap Lake is fundamental. It is he who feeds us all with fish, because we do not have rice fields. Here, we depend exclusively on fishing”explains one of the villagers. To stock up on supplies, the village has floating grocery stores but also street vendors who sell small snacks to your home.
