The Bloc Québécois will table a motion on the old age security pension

(Ottawa) The Bloc Québécois will try to increase pressure on the minority Liberal government in Ottawa on Tuesday by asking the House of Commons to hold a debate on increasing the old age security pension for all seniors.

The Bloc leader, Yves-François Blanchet, gave the government until October 29 to give the green light to the bill aimed at improving the old age security pension for those aged 65 to 74, a measure estimated at 16 billion on five years.

If the government refuses to grant the royal recommendation to the bill before the deadline, the Bloc will begin “discussions with the other oppositions in order to overthrow the Liberal government of Justin Trudeau.”

The Bloc plans to use its opposition day to table a motion in which it will ask the government to get behind its bill as soon as possible. He asks the other parties to support his motion.

The vote on the motion is scheduled for later this week. The result of the vote will allow us to see whether the government intends to accept the Bloc’s conditions to stay in power for a few more months.

The Conservatives, for their part, will try again to overthrow the Trudeau government on Tuesday afternoon, when MPs vote on another motion of censure that is unlikely to pass.
