The unloved capital | Duty

Never in decades has the national capital of Quebecers been so poorly served by its government, which only wants to be national since the arrival of the CAQ to power in 2018. A few examples will illustrate this.

The defunct Charlesbourg Zoological Garden had a magnificent greenhouse, now gone and demolished with millions of dollars. However, the Premières-Seigneuries School Service Center offers horticulture courses. We spent four million to demolish this greenhouse without thinking that the same millions could have been used to adapt it to a new use by changing the column numbers. […] What did the Charlesbourg deputy minister do in this matter? Nothing. He watched it happen. It’s a waste.

After having procrastinated for six years on the tramway issue in Quebec, doing nothing and letting inflation increase the costs, the CAQ decided to do nothing by asking the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec to give its opinion on the project, therefore to make a decision for him. The favorable opinion for the construction of a tramway for Quebec was given. For three months, nothing! Absolute silence! Time passes. Federal subsidies for the project are sitting on the shelves and will disappear if the Conservative Party is elected. We leave the responsibility of doing nothing to others while the development of the capital suffers. It never occurred to the CAQ government, nor to the member for Charlesbourg, minister responsible for the Capitale-Nationale region, to present this project as a development tool for the capital. The billions will go elsewhere. The CAQ does nothing.

At the same time, the CPDQ does not recommend the creation of a third link. The opportunity is too good to keep a promise that will not come true. This is the strength of the CAQ: doing nothing for its capital, hating it and preventing its development.
