San Francisco Giants | Buster Posey becomes president of operations, replacing Farhan Zaidi

(San Francisco) The San Francisco Giants named their former catcher Buster Posey as president of baseball operations, and they fired Farhan Zaidi.

President Greg Johnson confirmed the information Monday, after manager Bob Melvin completed his first campaign at the helm of the team with an 80-82 record – one victory more than last season. The Giants won the National League West title in 2021, but have not made the playoffs since that time.

Posey, 37, joined the Giants ownership group in September 2022, less than a year after announcing his retirement in November 2021.

“We are looking for someone who can define, lead and grow the culture of this dealership, and we think Buster is the perfect fit.” Buster has the personality, intelligence and motivation to do this job, and we are confident that he and Bob Melvin will work together to build a winning culture in San Francisco,” Johnson said in a statement.

Zaidi was hired in November 2018, after leaving the Los Angeles Dodgers.
