Third most capped player in the France team, Antoine Griezmann announced his international retirement on Monday September 30 to everyone’s surprise.

After 144 caps, Antoine Griezmann said goodbye to the Blues. The French player has just announced his international retirement on Monday September 30. Best player of Euro 2016, world champion in 2018, he was the playing master of the Blues of Deschamps for a decade. “After 10 incredible years marked by challenges, successes, and unforgettable moments, it is time for me to turn a page and make way for the new generation”says the world champion in a video on his social networks.

Designated as “coach’s favorite” Didier Deschamps by his teammates in blue, he in turn joined the club of the 2018 world champions who announced their international retirement. In tears after defeat in the Euro 2016 final at home, he was the key to success at the 2018 World Cup.
