The parents of Inass Touloub, found dead on the A10 motorway in 1987, will be tried before a criminal court, the mother for “acts of torture and barbaric acts leading to death” and the father for “complicity” , according to a decision of the Court of Cassation rendered on September 25 and consulted by franceinfo.
The parents of little Inass, a four-year-old girl found dead in 1987, filed cassation appeals at the beginning of the summer to challenge the decision of the Orléans Court of Appeal, which ordered their trial. In this decision of September 25, the Court of Cassation rejected their requests, therefore confirming the holding of this trial in this case.
In August 1987, the body of this little girl, victim of abuse, was found in a ditch on the side of the A10 motorway in Suèvres (Loir-et-Cher). For years, investigators had tried to find the identity of this child without success, before succeeding 31 years later, thanks to DNA analyses: we then discovered that the child was called Inass, that she had 4 years old at the time of her death and that she had suffered repeated violence.
Her parents, identified, were arrested in 2018. Experts concluded that the 4-year-old girl had died from the consequences of abuse involving bites, fractures, burns, contusions and wounds.
In its referral order dated June 20, consulted by franceinfo, the Orléans Court of Appeal considers that there are “sufficient loads” against Inass’s mother for subjecting the child to “bites”“acts of violence leading to fractures not treated medically” or even “burns” having caused death without the intention of causing it. The father is being prosecuted for “complicity in the crime of torture or barbaric acts resulting in death”.
