The man who staged the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games at the Stade de France is called Romain Pissenem. With his brother Yann, the two French people are in fact essentials in the party world, particularly in Ibiza.

In the control room of the Ushuaia Ibiza Hotel, a sort of amusement park for wealthy adults, the producer scans the immense colorful stage on which David Guetta moves while performing his hits, like every week. Romain Pissenem has just returned from Azerbaijan, before taking a plane back to London where he lives, and coordinates the work of the operators of his production company High Scream. In just over ten years, these two brothers have become the most sought-after producer-directors in the world with their company High Scream.

At this hotel, rooms with balconies overlook the dance floor and stage. The show is audio but also visual. That evening, above nearly 8,000 spectators, a ballerina hangs from dozens of white balloons inflated with helium. The audience keeps their smartphones in the air, under the spell. The show is truly incredible, the lights, the pyrotechnics, and the planes flying over the stage, it’s very beautiful.” said this man in English. “It’s absolutely fantastic, it’s an incredible experience”says this woman at his side.

Romain Pissenem and Yann, his brother, launched these shows in Ibiza thirteen years ago. And the success is total, with nearly a million entries recorded each summer. “It’s great, there are people from every country in the world, from every culture in the world, confides Romainand it’s good to see that for two hours, we manage to put everyone together and that it goes very well.”

At the end of the show at 11 p.m., we dismantle the equipment while, on the other side of the street, the Hï opens, a nightclub renovated by the Pissenems. On the program each week, the best DJs in the world, in front of up to 8,000 clubbers per evening. Here, no disco balls or strobes, the evenings have a completely different look. Pedro Winter DJ, boss of the EdBanger label, experienced player in the electro scene, salutes a certain know-how: “A DJ is a very alone artist behind his machines, and Romain arrives with his armada of lights, fireworkshe describes,

“Romain is the mad scientist who found the perfect alchemy of light and dark places.”

However, nothing predestined the Pissenem brothers to become the kings of the night in Ibiza. They grew up in Azelot, a village of 400 inhabitants very close to Nancy. Romain, passionate about theater, experienced his first success by putting on a show combining theater and electro evenings on a barge in Paris. Yann worked as a waiter in Spain, before having the idea of setting up a beach music bar, open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The foundations, so to speak, of the concept of Ushuaïa. And it was the beginning of great success for the two men, who have since remained very discreet.

Today, High Scream produces approximately 1,500 shows per year. The two forty-year-olds own the two biggest nightclubs and several restaurants in Ibiza. We imagine them to be millionaires, but don’t count on them to confirm. “It’s not that we don’t talk about money, but it’s not the most interesting part of the adventure”assures Romain,

“Are we making money, yes that’s for sure. Those who are interested can count, but the idea is to sell dreams, and it’s better not to put a price on dream.”

And the Pissenem brothers are not going to stop there. They have other plans. Romain fulfilled a childhood dream by producing the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games this summer in Paris: “To be able to succeed in my country, to come home and to be able to close the Olympic Games, it’s a great show for as many people as possible.”

At the end of October, the Pissenem brothers will open a new Ushuaia in Dubai. Calvin Harris is scheduled for the inauguration. Next year, Romain will produce DJ Snake’s show at the Stade de France and David Guetta’s at the Vélodrome in Marseille. Two firsts for the producer. Another crazy project, Yann will open the Universe, a new club promoted by Will Smith and presented as revolutionary in Ibiza, to be discovered in spring 2025, with the announced objective of “push the bar a little higher”.
