Precariousness: more and more students during food distributions
(France 2)

In big cities, it is no longer rare to see lines of young people waiting to benefit from packed lunches. Even if they are on scholarships and work on the side, students are increasingly turning to associations to make ends meet.

One evening of food distribution, several hundred students wait on a sidewalk in the 20th arrondissement of Paris. To benefit from help from the Linkee association, you must have registered online the day before and show your student card. “There, I haven’t even received the stock market yet, not even the APL yet, it’s coming next month. I’m on my savings”confides a photography student.

Three friends are between 18 and 21 years old. Their rent is paid by their parents, but it is insufficient. “It’s the 26th, I have 12 euros left. Linkee really helps me a lot.”assures one of them. Many young people also volunteer for the association. Linkee allows each student to leave with balanced food and fresh products, a package weighing 8 kg on average. In one evening, 600 packages will be distributed, the usual average.
