(Deer Valley Resort) Mikaël Kingsbury was the only person to score more than 80 qualifying points in the freestyle skiing World Cup moguls event in Deer Valley, Utah.

The Deux-Montagnes hard worker collected 80.77 points to finish first, ahead of American Nick Page and Japanese Daichi Hara. Japan’s Ikuma Horishima, who is trailing Kingsbury in the World Cup standings, qualified in fourth place.
Two other Quebecers will join Kingsbury in the final later Thursday afternoon: Laurent Dumais finished the first session in eighth place and Gabriel Dufresne in 13and.
British Columbian Brenden Kelly and Ontario’s Jordan Kober finished 26and and 37and and were eliminated.
Of the 16 bosses in the final, six will get their pass for the super final.
Among the women, Chloé and Justine Dufour-Lapointe are the only Canadians to have qualified for the final.
Chloe, 14and in the World Cup standings, was the top Canadian in this qualifier, earning 68.86 points from the judges to take 11and rank.
Justine, who occupies the 17and place in the world rankings, barely managed to qualify for the final presented in the afternoon by finishing 16and and last place giving access to it, with 66.69 points.
Berkley Brown finished 17and, ahead of Maia Schwinghammer. Sofiane Gagnon, who had to give up the Tremblant World Cup last week due to COVID-19, finished in 34and square.
Thirty-six female bosses took the start.
The Deer Valley World Cup will feature a second run of moguls on Friday. These are the last two competitions allowing freestyle skiers to qualify for the Beijing Olympics.
The composition of the Canadian team will be revealed on January 24th.
