Zone Exit, Season 6 | Episode 3: Winners and losers at mid-camp

After three preparatory matches, the portrait of the Canadian’s initial lineup is becoming clearer. But there are still struggles, particularly in defense, for a starting position. Who, Arber Xhekaj or Jayden Struble, is ahead at the moment? Our panelists Simon-Olivier Lorange, Alexandre Pratt, Stéphane Waite and host Jérémie Rainville have divergent opinions. Also in this episode: the potential of Lane Hutson, the future of David Savard with the Canadiens, the role of a captain today and an update on the reconstruction of the Ottawa Senators.

David Savard: right-handed, experience, he is good in his zone, you get the hang of these guys. Savard, he will be important again, no doubt. This year he is still important, but eventually he will take the place of a youngster who is waiting.

Stéphane Waite

Hutson is going to make the team, not only is he going to make it, but he’s going to be top 4 on this team. But I also think Struble played some good games, and Barron is clearly making the transition from just being an offensive defenseman. I thought he was pretty good on Monday on the penalty kill.

Alexander Pratt

When the Leafs fired Sheldon Keefe, senior management said they were going to lift all the stones to find out what wasn’t working and we were going to make changes. The changes were not radical at all, so we felt that changing the coach was the right thing to do to change the destiny of this team. I’m looking forward to the next few weeks.
