House of song and music | Écho Sonore will create the programming

The president and co-founder of Écho Sonore, Monique Giroux, was entrusted with the programming of the future Maison de la chanson et de la musique du Québec. The NPO received a sum of 2.6 million from the Ministry of Culture and Communications to plan the activities of the new location.


The announcement was made Friday morning in the former Saint-Sulpice library, which will host the Maison de la chanson et de la musique from 2027. The organization will notably create an immersive journey as well as mediation activities.

The government of Quebec has committed to investing 48.5 million for the transformation of the heritage building. The plans and specifications for the new Maison de la chanson et de la musique are currently being produced, but work will not begin before next year.

Echo Sonore, which was founded in 2018 by host Monique Giroux and lyricist Luc Plamondon, is a non-profit organization whose mission is to “highlight and promote music and song from here and abroad. elsewhere, from all periods and all styles.”
