This is one of the major issues awaiting the future Minister Delegate for People with Disabilities: financial support for wheelchairs. In April 2023, Emmanuel Macron announced that this equipment intended for people with reduced mobility, including “the prices are so exorbitant for some purses”would be fully reimbursed “from 2024”without any remaining charge. The head of state had then defended “a measure of social justice”.

A year later, the government of Gabriel Attal assured that this commitment, which was to concern electric and manual wheelchairs, would be “held before the end of 2024”. While waiting for the possible realization of this promise by the new executive led by Michel Barnier, franceinfo gives the floor to wheelchair users, in order to collect their testimony on the burden that this equipment places on their budget (purchase, rental, maintenance, additional expenses, etc.). Have you encountered difficulties in obtaining one or more wheelchairs adapted to your situation? Have you had to give up certain models or options for financial reasons? Have you been able to benefit from sufficient aid?
