Red Sox come from behind to defeat Blue Jays 6-5 in 10

The Red Sox kept their slim playoff chances alive again Tuesday, coming from behind to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-5 in 10 games.e sleeve.

Trevor Story broke the tie with a double in the extra inning before scoring the deciding run moments later. The Red Sox trailed by three runs after six innings.

“The guys did a tremendous job of battling until the end,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora said. “We used everybody. It’s one of the most rewarding wins I’ve had since I’ve been here.”

Red Sox reliever Chris Martin (3-1) earned his third win of the season. Jays reliever Tommy Nance (0-3) suffered the loss.

The Red Sox improved to 80-78 while the Blue Jays fell to 12 games under .500, a season high for the Toronto club.

Blue Jays starter Bowden Francis was dominant early in the game, striking out the first two batters he faced.

“Just another outstanding effort,” Blue Jays manager John Schneider said of his starter.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. produced his 102e point of the campaign this season. Only 11 players have reached the 100-point plateau since the start of the campaign in major league baseball.

The Red Sox won their fourth straight game and second in this series against the Blue Jays. The two teams will meet again on Wednesday.
