Toronto Blue Jays | Daulton Varsho on 60-day injured list

(Toronto) Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho was placed on the 60-day disabled list Tuesday.

Varsho underwent surgery on his right shoulder on Monday. He hits left but throws right.

Varsho had a .214 batting average this season, with 18 home runs, 58 RBIs and a .293 fielding percentage.

He is best known for his defensive play, having committed only two errors in 1,085 1/3 innings this season. He has played all three outfield positions.

Infielder Orelvis Martinez has returned to the lineup after serving his suspension.

Martinez was suspended 80 games by Major League Baseball after testing positive for an illegal substance.

Martinez has joined the Blue Jays’ spring training complex in Dunedin, Fla.

He was considered the Blue Jays’ second-best minor league prospect, but was waived on June 23, one day after making his major league debut.
