New attacks on Ukraine. The city of Zaporizhzhia in the south of the country was the target of Russian airstrikes “massive”regional governor Ivan Fedorov said on Tuesday, September 24. They left one dead and six injured, including two children, a 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, the governor said. The airstrikes and drone strikes caused fires in residential buildings and public facilities, he detailed.
Ukrainian defenses shot down 66 attack drones while 13 others were lost to radar, the Ukrainian Air Force said. In total, Russia launched 81 drones, mainly targeting northern and central Ukraine, and four missiles. In Ukraine’s central Poltava region, drones damaged energy infrastructure, affecting the supply of about 20 localities, regional authorities also said.
In Russia, the Defense Ministry said 13 Ukrainian drones were destroyed over regions bordering Ukraine overnight and early Tuesday. In the Russian-occupied part of Ukraine’s Donetsk region, two civilians were injured by Ukrainian shelling early Tuesday in the town of Gorlivka, according to the Russian-appointed mayor.
