NFL | Daniels nearly perfect in Commanders’ 38-33 win over Bengals

(Cincinnati) Rookie Jayden Daniels threw two touchdown passes and scored a major on the ground Monday, helping the Washington Commanders beat Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals 38-33.

Daniel finished the game with 21 completions of 23 attempts for 254 yards, setting an NFL rookie record with 91.3 percent completions. The Commanders scored on every possession except when they took a knee at the end of each half.

Neither team punted or had a turnover.

Burrow threw for 324 yards and three touchdowns, but the Bengals (0-3) simply couldn’t keep up with their opponents. It’s the Ohio club’s worst start to a season since losing its first 11 games in 2019.

Daniels’ first touchdown pass was a 1-yard throw to tackle Trent Scott early in the second half, giving the Bengals a major to an offensive lineman in the second straight game.

Daniels then was patient in his pocket to find Terry McLaurin from 27 yards out with 2:10 left to seal the game.

In the first half, the Commanders got rushing touchdowns from Brian Robinson Jr., Austin Ekeler and Daniels.

McLaurin caught four passes for 100 yards.
