Fashion Week | Paris opens with fashion accessible to all

(Paris) Barely recovered from the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Paris took over the spring-summer 2025 women’s ready-to-wear fashion shows on Monday, with a Fashion Week starting with the young guard and an event exceptionally open to all.


It was the 29-year-old Alsatian party-goer Victor Weinsanto, nicknamed the “Jacquemus of the East”, who opened the ball in the afternoon on the roof of the Centre Pompidou for a show around Le Filip, who won the 2024 edition of the television show Drag Race France.

In the rain and gusts of wind, her combinations of colorful mesh and pink net top gave a literally untimely preview of what will be worn next summer.

Cosmetics giant L’Oréal took over in the evening with a fashion show on Place de l’Opéra, in the heart of Paris, open to the public (registration required), followed by several hundred young fans parked behind barriers, but in the foreground to see a rare array of stars parade up close.

All the muses carried the young French guard (Mossi, Atlein, Coperni), honored once again.

This generation of independent creators, with a strong LGBTQ message and politically engaged, had already found themselves in the spotlight during the various Games ceremonies in the capital, with unexpected global visibility.

“The idea is to be able to make accessible and democratize everything that the public never sees from this moment of Fashion Week: the most beautiful places, the most beautiful outfits and the most beautiful beauty looks,” Delphine Viguier, CEO of L’Oréal Paris, told AFP.

This event, which has existed for seven years, supports the brand’s essential role as a patron of the Parisian scene, from fashion show makeup to supporting young designers.

After New York, London and Milan, 106 brands will participate in Paris in 66 fashion shows and around forty collection presentations.

On Tuesday, it’s back to the big names in luxury: French big names Christian Dior and Saint Laurent will present their creations.

This season is also marked by a lot of turbulence within the big houses. With the results of the luxury groups LVMH and Kering slightly down, the restructurings are shaking the work tables of the designers and generating a festival of unconfirmed rumors: Hedi Slimane, Tom Ford or Jacquemus at Chanel, John Galliano on the departure of Maison Margiela…
