The fifth day of Ligue 1, the start of the Road World Championships, the Singapore Grand Prix and the third day of the Top 14… Franceinfo: sport gives you a summary of the main points of the sporting weekend.

Ligue 1: OM thunders OL, Saint-Etienne sinks, Paris stalls

Marseille fans will remember this for a long time. Down to 10 from the 5th minute of play, then trailing until 20 minutes from the end of regulation time, Olympique de Marseille came back from nowhere to surprise their rivals Lyon (3-2) on their own pitch at the end of a memorable end to the match. The OL players thought they had avoided the worst by equalizing through Rayan Cherki in added time, but on the following engagement, in the 95th minute, Jonathan Rowe gave OM the lead again with a devastating curling shot.

A completely crazy scenario that allows Roberto De Zerbi’s team to come back level with Monaco and PSG at the top of the championship. The capital club disappointed on Saturday by not managing to do better than a draw away to Reims (1-1), the first match that it did not win this season.

The opening of the weekend was as crazy as the conclusion. It all started on Friday with a historic spanking, “a shame” according to Saint-Etienne defender Léo Pétrot. By losing 8-0 on the Nice pitch, Saint-Etienne delivered a disastrous performance, a week after its first victory in Ligue 1 since its promotion this summer. At half-time, the die was cast: 6-0, the biggest gap since 1997 in the French championship (Lyon-Marseille 7-0).

F1: Lando Norris takes points from Max Verstappen

The gap continues to narrow at the top of the world championship. Winner of his third race of the season, Lando Norris once again took points from leader and three-time reigning world champion Max Verstappen. Starting from pole position, which he held until the end of the first lap for once, the McLaren driver took a landslide victory, with a lead of more than 20 seconds at the chequered flag over his closest pursuer, Verstappen.

The British driver has not finished behind the Dutchman since the Belgian Grand Prix at the end of July and continues to dream of an individual title, even if he is still 52 points behind. With Oscar Piastri’s third place, his team also widens its lead in the constructors’ championship (+41 over Red Bull).

Rugby: historic first for RC Vannes

It only took them three games to win their first Top 14 victory in history. On Saturday, RC Vannes, the first Breton club to be promoted to the top flight, won in style against Lyon (30-20) in their boiling Stade de la Rabine. “Honestly, I’ve never seen anything like it.”congratulated LOU player Sébastien Taofifénua.

In the other matches, the leader Toulouse beat Montpellier (20-11), while Bordeaux-Bègles won the shock of the day against Racing in a prolific match (52-34).

Cycling: Remco Evenepoel and Grace Brown world time trial champions

The event was promised to him and he held his own. A little over a month after his Olympic gold medal in the event, Remco Evenepoel won his second time trial world champion title on Sunday in Zurich (Switzerland). Leading at every intermediate point, the Belgian dominated a tough field to claim his ninth victory of the year, including five in time trials.

Grace Brown also achieved the double Olympic title-world title. Solid, the Australian won ahead of the Dutch Demi Vollering and the American Chloe Dygert, the defending champion. A great end to the season for the one who will retire at the end of the year.
