Jean-Noël Barrot, new Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs. Here on May 16, 2024 (REMY PERRIN / MAXPPP)

Hadrien Bect and François Beaudonnet receive Tam Tran Huydeputy editorial director of Public Sénat, and Theo Bourgery-Gonzejournalist at the specialist Europe website Euractiv.

Since Saturday shortly before 8 p.m., France (finally) has a government. And in this government, Jean-Noël Barrot is the new Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs. He was previously Minister Delegate for Europe, since February 2024. IHe is replaced in this position by Benjamin Haddad.

With a new feature: the Minister Delegate for Europe reports, in the Barnier government, to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs but also to the Prime Minister. This is a first: in general, the Minister Delegate for Europe reports only to the Quai d’Orsay.
