After 67 days of waiting, the list of the new Barnier government was unveiled on Saturday evening, September 21. A first council of ministers should take place on Monday, at the beginning of the week.

The Secretary General of the Élysée, Alexis Kohler, spoke and announced symbolic appointments, such as Bruno Retailleau, Minister of the Interior, or Annie Genevard, Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry. The Republicans are well represented, with emblematic positions.
The presidential camp is also present, with ministers kept on, such as Sébastien Lecornu in Defense, Catherine Vautrin, who moves to Territorial Cohesion, or Rachida Dati, kept on in Culture. A bad signal, according to the National Rally (RN). “They took a big slap in the face, and despite everything, they are preparing to govern the country again”deplores Philippe Ballard, RN deputy of Oise.

Among the newcomers, the Macronist MP Anne Genette in National Education. Two days earlier, the latter criticized the Retailleau hypothesis in Beauvau. A former socialist MP, Didier Migaud, joins Justice. He is the only representative from the left, although he left the Socialist Party 14 years ago, appointed president of the Court of Auditors.
Public accounts and the economy were entrusted to Antoine Armand for the Ministry of the Economy, and Laurent Saint-Martin for the Budget.
