CFL | Tiger-Cats win 33-31 over Argonauts

(Toronto) A 48-yard field goal by Marc Liegghio on the final play of the game gave the Tiger-Cats a 33-31 victory over the Toronto Argonauts on Friday night.


Liegghio’s kick capped a seven-play, 35-yard scoring drive that ended in Hamilton’s second straight game.

And it came after a 28-yard field goal by Lirim Hajrullahu gave the Argonauts a 31-30 lead with 56 seconds left.

Also in the fourth quarter, Liegghio had previously given the Ticats a 30-28 lead with a 15-yard field goal.

The Tiger-Cats (5-9) have won all three games against the Argonauts (7-7) this season, a first since 2019.

The Hamilton team, which has won its last three games, is now just four points behind the Argonauts and third place in the East with four games remaining.

Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell completed 31 of 40 passes for 362 yards and a touchdown. He improves to 15-2 in his career against the Argonauts.

Chad Kelly completed 17 of 26 passes for 255 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also had two rushing touchdowns.

His one-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter gave his team a 28-27 lead after a three-play, 70-yard drive.
