Five people were indicted on Saturday, September 14, for kidnapping, sequestration, group violence and acts of torture and barbarity in Auxerre, in the Yonne, France Bleu Auxerre learned from the prosecutor’s office, confirming information from L’Yonne républicaine. They are suspected of having assaulted, kidnapped and raped a 15-year-old teenager in the Sainte-Geneviève social housing area on Wednesday, September 11.
The teenager was attacked by a group of youths who took him to an apartment, then to the top of a tower block, where he was beaten up, reports France Bleu Auxerre. He was then forcibly transported to a forest, where the gang attacked him. His attackers undressed him and beat him with their feet, fists and sticks. They also used a stick to penetrate him.
Medical findings attest to the violence inflicted on the teenager. He was given 15 days of temporary incapacity for work by a doctor, France Bleu Auxerre reports. The victim was unable to say how long the violence lasted.
The investigation, however, allowed the five suspects, aged 16 to 25, to be quickly arrested. Three of them, aged 16, 17 and 19, are in pre-trial detention. The other two are under judicial supervision. The investigation must now determine the role of each, but also what led these young people to commit such violence. They all face a sentence of up to 15 years in prison.
