The Ecologist and Social Group asks the office of the National Assembly to initiate proceedings against Aurore Bergé

The Ecologist and Social group is asking the President of the National Assembly to initiate proceedings for perjury against Aurore Bergé following the publication of Victor Castanet’s book “Les Ogres” on the excesses of certain private day care centers, according to a press release published on Friday, September 20. The deputies also want a new investigation into the operation and failures of these structures.

Aurore Bergé, then Minister of Solidarity in charge of early childhood, was interviewed in April 2024, in particular on her role with stakeholders in private daycare centers. According to the Ecologist and Social group, several elements of the book demonstrate that, contrary to what the minister stated during her hearing, she would have “maintained close exchanges with the private nursery lobby”, “going so far as to conclude a pact guaranteeing the interests of the government and the large companies in the sector. The deputies cite article 6 of the ordinance of 17 November 1958 which provides for prosecution in the event of false testimony.”
