Stade Brestois is making its big debut in the Champions League, under its new format. Qualified thanks to a historic third place in Ligue 1, the Finistériens welcome the Austrians of Sturm Graz, Thursday September 19 (9 p.m.). The match, relocated to Guingamp, since the Francis-Le Blé stadium in Brest was not approved for European competitions, promises to be very open. If Stade Brestois was the surprise team of last season, the squad has changed a lot. Steve Mounié, Lilian Brassier and Jérémy Le Douaron have left for other horizons, while Ludovic Ajorque, Massadio Haïdara and Mama Baldé have joined the Breton squad.

With the most affordable of their eight European matches to start, Brest can aim for three points. Sturm Graz, little known to the general public, also has little experience in C1, which it has not played since 2001. The Austrian team is stringing together good results in its championship, of which it is the defending champion, but does not yet have any European references. It had faced Lille last season, in the round of 16 of the Europa Conference League, for a northern victory (3-0) in the first leg and a draw in the return leg.
