An investigation opened following a complaint by rapper Gims against Booba for harassment, announces the Paris prosecutor’s office

In this complaint, Gims and his partner accuse Booba of “attacking” them “for six years”, according to information obtained by AFP.

An investigation has been opened after rapper Gims and his partner filed a complaint against another music figure. They accuse Booba of moral harassment and cyberbullying, the Paris prosecutor’s office announced on Thursday, September 19, when contacted by AFP. The investigations have been carried out by the Brigade for the Suppression of Crimes against Persons, the public prosecutor said.

According to information obtained by AFP, Gims and his partner, nicknamed Demdem, accuse Booba in this complaint of “to attack” to them “for six years”, “encouraged” by “an absolutely impressive number of his admirers”creating “a terrible situation of cyberbullying.”

“We discovered the existence of this procedure in the press,” reacted Booba’s lawyers, who “denies any accusation of harassment and reserves his explanations for the courts”. “It would be worrying for the future of the rule of law if artistic creations could be subject to criminal prosecution, especially on the grounds of moral harassment”they warned.

Their lawyer, David-Olivier Kaminski, said that“It is high time for this toxic harassment to stop. Harassment is not about speaking your mind, it is about committing a criminal offence and one day being held accountable in court.” According to the plaintiffs, who cite numerous messages attributed to Booba on social networks, there are attacks against the “physical” de Gims, Booba relaying photos of the person concerned without his glasses that he constantly wears. In another message, Booba allegedly wrote “You look like [sic] to a dirty wizard cat kibble”.

The plaintiffs also mention numerous attacks against Demdem. One of Booba’s latest songs, Sweet Camarais targeted by the complaint as “highlight” of the harassment that the couple would suffer. In this song sung with SDM, Booba says in particular: “We like them fresh, very michtos [une femme qui serait attirée par l’argent], who know how to welcome like Demdem”.

For his part, in an interview with Parisian published on Sunday, Booba praised the success of this “pure rap piece (…) with a settling of scores, where I attack Gims’ wife, who insulted my daughter”.
