ADISQ revealed this Wednesday the finalists of its 46e gala, which will take place on November 3. Leading the nominations this year: Karkwa and Les Cowboys Fringants.

It’s Karkwa, who made a masterful comeback this year with his album In the secondwhich garnered the most mentions. The quintet received 11 in total, seven in their personal capacity, and four in the industrial categories related to the project.

With Karl Tremblay’s moving posthumous album, Royal PubCowboys Fringants are nominated in seven categories, including the prestigious Author or composer of the year for Jean-François Pauzé, who is nominated for the first time in his prolific career. The group is of course in the running for Album of the year – Popular success, and their touching The end of the show is a finalist in the Song of the Year category.

Elisapie is also nominated in seven categories – three artistic and four industrial – including Indigenous Artist of the Year, with Florent Vollant, Jeremy Dutcher, Natasha Kanapé and Soleil Launière. She is also nominated in the International Outreach category, as is Charlotte Cardin, who has six nominations (four artistic and two industrial).

The excellent Arielle Soucy is in the Revelation of the Year category alongside Rauz_Ze, BARNEV, Sophie Grenier and Émile Bourgault. But her six nominations, five in her personal capacity and one in the industrial categories, are one of the nice surprises of this selection. The six mentions of the group comment debord (three artistic and three industrial), including their wonderfully groovy Blood same which sneaks into the Song of the Year category, are just as enjoyable and hint at the emergence of a few new voices in the gala.

The young duo Rau_Ze also sees one of their pieces, The habitfeatured in the Song of the Year category alongside regulars like Les Cowboys Fringants, Roxane Bruneau, Charlotte Cardin and Les Trois Accords. As for the energetic Sara Dufour, she slipped into the Popular Success Album category alongside big names like Daniel Bélanger, Les Cowboys Fringants and 2 Frères.

Among the artists who received four nominations, we note Roxane Bruneau, Dominique Fils-Aimé, the super collective Le Roy, la Rose and le Lou[p] and Aliocha Schneider. Quite a year in fact for the latter, who finds himself alongside Jean-François Pauzé in the Author or composer of the year category, with the Karkwa band, Souldia and his collaborators and Alexandre Poulin.
