Rangers win 13-8 over Blue Jays

Wyatt Langford homered and doubled twice, Jonah Heim had a two-run single to break a tie and the Texas Rangers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 13-8 on Tuesday.

Leody Taveras also homered and had three hits in the win.

Heim had just one hit in his 34 appearances in the box in September before driving the ball to right field off Tommy Nance (0-2). Adolis Garcia and Nathaniel Lowe scored in the sequence to give the Rangers a 9-7 lead.

Heim had a .212 batting average and 53 RBIs entering the game after earning an All-Star spot last season and driving in 95 runs. He added a double in the eighth.

Matt Festa (5-1) pitched 1 1/3 innings without a run for the win. He is 5-0 with the Rangers.

Nathan Eovaldi, who was central to the Rangers’ World Series victory last year, had his worst game of the season. The pitcher, who could become a free agent after the season, gave up 11 hits and seven runs.

Six of the seven runs allowed by Blue Jays starter Chris Bassitt were unearned, as he pitched 3 2/3 innings.

Blue Jays player Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a double and two singles.

Returning from an injury that sidelined him since July 19, Bo Bichette has hit the ball safely twice in five at-bats.
