Death toll rises to 22 in Central and Eastern Europe

In Poland, police announced that they had found two new victims. In Austria, an unconscious body was found in a flooded house.

A human toll that is still rising. The bad weather and flooding caused by storm Boris in central Europe have caused the death of 22 people, according to the latest report from local authorities on Tuesday, September 17. In Poland, the police announced that they had found two new victims of the storm, for a total of six deaths in the country.

In Austria, the body of a fifth victim was found in his flooded home, according to the police. While the weather situation seems to be improving, the ground is saturated and rivers are bursting their banks, leading the authorities to ask the population to exercise extreme caution. In Vienna, four metro lines remain partially closed, as do all the parks due to possible falling trees.

Finally, in the Czech Republic, just over 60,000 homes are still without electricity, mainly in the north-east.
