Harassment at work | CNESST launches an awareness campaign

(Quebec) The number of complaints for psychological or sexual harassment in the workplace is increasing: as of August 30, no fewer than 4,182 cases had been processed by the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST), compared to 4,577 for the whole of 2023 and 3,934 in 2022.

The organization launched a $365,000 advertising campaign on Monday to help employers and employees spot abusive, humiliating and hurtful conduct.

The announcement was made Monday at the CNESST in Quebec by the Minister of Labor, Jean Boulet.

In 2023, no less than 190 million was paid in compensation for occupational injuries attributable to violence, stress and harassment at work.

The bill could well rise in the coming years, according to Mr. Boulet.

“This is not what we want, but we can anticipate it or apprehend it, in my opinion, we must anticipate it. And the culture of reporting or the culture of denunciation must permeate all workplaces.”
