The possibility of a diplomatic solution to end the clashes between the Israeli army and Lebanese Hezbollah “goes away”according to a statement released Monday, September 16, by the Israeli Defense Ministry. “The possibility of a negotiated framework for the northern front is receding as Hezbollah continues to ‘chain itself’ to Hamas. The dynamic is clear.”Minister Yoav Gallant said during a telephone conversation with his American counterpart, Lloyd Austin, on the night of Sunday to Monday.

Yoav Gallant spoke about the fate of tens of thousands of Israelis still evacuated from towns near the border between Israel and Lebanon, where exchanges of fire have been almost daily since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. “We will do whatever is necessary to ensure that [les habitants du Nord] return home safely”declared Benjamin Netanyahu. “The status quo cannot continue. We must change the balance of power on our northern border.”added the Israeli Prime Minister.
