On the occasion of his first press review on Monday, Paul Arcand comments on this second assassination attempt to occur against former American President Donald Trump in the space of two months.
“What is a little strange is that we realize that the close protection around the ex-president has been tightened. On the other hand, when you look at the perimeter of the golf club, there was almost no police presence. […] All this is happening in a climate of extreme verbal violence and hatred that surrounds this campaign for the presidency of the United States.”
The Republican presidential candidate in November was at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday when shots were fired nearby.
The former president was not injured. The suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, a 58-year-old man, was arrested, but his motives are not yet known.
