Three suspects were taken into custody on Sunday, September 15, after a man was killed on the evening of Saturday, September 14, in Valence (Drôme).
The incident took place on Saturday evening, between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m., a man in a car was attacked on the head by two individuals. Hooded, they kicked the driver several times in the skull. The 30-year-old driver, known to the courts for minor offences, died instantly. The two attackers had initially chased him in their car before forcibly stopping him. The victim’s vehicle ended up in a gate on Avenue de la Libération in Valence, where the attack took place.
After the beating, the two attackers got back into their car and fled. The police tried to catch up with them as they were heading towards Romans-sur-Isère by taking a road in the wrong direction. Their car, a Peugeot 307, was found burned out on Sunday around 2am.
The investigation has been entrusted to the Valencia Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS), the new name of the judicial police. Investigations are continuing “in particular to determine the motive for this atrocious fatal attack, the course of which suggests a targeted killing”specified the public prosecutor Laurent de Caigny to France Bleu Drôme Ardèche.
