A 46-year-old woman died on the morning of Saturday, September 14, fatally stabbed by her 51-year-old partner in Cormontreuil (Marne), France Bleu Champagne-Ardenne learned from the Reims public prosecutor, François Schneider.
According to the prosecution, the 51-year-old man is suspected of having stabbed his partner several times in the bathroom of the couple’s home in the city centre of Cormontreuil, before seriously injuring himself. The woman died and the man was taken to hospital in critical condition. The couple’s two children, aged around ten, did not witness the scene.
For the time being, the Reims prosecutor’s office has no information on the context of the tragedy. The husband was not known to the justice services for acts of domestic violence. The couple were, however, known together to the justice system, for acts that have not “nothing to do with it”according to the Reims prosecutor, François Schneider. An investigation has been opened for murder of a spouse, the Reims prosecutor’s office said.
