Jordan Bardella, head of the National Rally, will file a defamation complaint against Libération journalist Tristan Berteloot, author of the book “The Winning Machine. Revelations on the RN on the march towards the Elysée”published Friday September 13, franceinfo learned from a source within the party.
In this investigation, the journalist claims in particular that the RN boss produced fake documents supposedly testifying to tasks never carried out on behalf of former MEP Jean-François Jalkh in 2015. At that time, Jordan Bardella was paid by the European Parliament as a parliamentary assistant. The RN boss assures that he neither backdated nor produced any documents and specifies that he himself was never heard or concerned by the procedure.
From September 30, Marine Le Pen and 26 other people as well as the National Rally (RN) as a legal entity will be tried before the Paris Criminal Court on suspicion of misappropriation of European public funds. They are suspected of having set up between 2004 and 2016 a system of remuneration by the European Union of assistants of MEPs who were in reality working for the party.
