The French pension insurance system had data stolen from 370,000 people, it announced in a press release issued on Friday, September 13. “Personal data (address, social security number, approximate amount of resources), relating to approximately 370,000 beneficiaries, have been compromised”explained the National Old Age Insurance Fund (CNAV).

The Cnav specifies that“This is mostly old data: some of the people concerned are deceased, for example.” “No banking data, no data relating to payments, retirement, career or benefits paid have been compromised.”she adds.

The data was stolen via the theft of accounts of service providers using the portal. The portal, called the Social Action Partners Portal, was taken out of service by the Cnav, which “apologizes to those affected by the accident”.

According to a forum specializing in the resale of data from the hack, consulted by AFP, the data stolen from Cnav was available for sale on an account which also offered data stolen from the Truffaut, Cultura and Boulanger brands.

According to the Cnav, the incident was reported to the National Commission for Information Technology and Civil Liberties, and the people concerned “will be informed“.
